2012 Obama Poetic Reflections

January 2012

Time to Move America Forward

As we congratulate the President for another small but substantial political victory,

Let us not celebrate too long his many successes as he continues to make history.

For a two month payroll tax holiday extension the Pres had to fight & plead,

Makes me wonder if the Republicans should ever lead?

The 2012 election will offer the most momentous choice in U.S. history

This year is a pivotal moment for our country and the presidency.

The political process is corrupted to restrict votes & suppress,

Republicans have been successful in bringing dysfunction to the process.

Approving campaign finance regulations that allow candidates to be bought,

The GOP sees it as the food stamp Pres verses the paycheck Pres of some sought.

In Congress the medium net worth of House members has more than doubled,

While American family’s net worth has declined but they don’t seem troubled.

One has to ask themselves, can the political system be fixed?

Can we manufacture in the United States without China in the mix?

The U.S. rank fifth in education amongst 36 industrialized countries,

The U.S. also has the most expensive medical care & rank 50th in life expectancy.

It’s time to invigorate the economy & enhance our quality of life;

Through education, rebuilding infrastructure & cutting oil dependency without strife.

Under Bush, Americans lost 750,000 jobs a month, leaving 25 million out of work,

Crybaby Gingrich had the nerve to call Obama the warfare/food-stamp President …what a jerk!

Right now, 29% of black children live in poverty;

But a change is coming, oh say can you see.

Don’t wait until the last minute to get the proper ID,

Vote on time & in person, it’s a privilege in this land of liberty.

The spirits of Republicans political tricks are really mean,

America should only be concerned if we’ll ever find anyone who would qualify to take Obama’s place in 2016;

President Obama epitomizes brawns & brains, while his integrity reigns supreme.

The G.I. Bill helped the U.S. overcome two world wars before & a bum Congress, but let me say;

This is the year we help President Obama move this country forward without delay!

Happy New Years!

The State of Our Union

President Obama says our nation must address inequality,

The idea that the rich don’t have to pay their fare share is a fallacy.

Those who make over one million a year should pay taxes at a rate of 30%;

The rules are bent for the 1%; we’re not going to blame that on the President.

The Pres wants to provide tax incentives for companies to bring jobs back from overseas,

These are some of the loopholes that have brought this country to its knees.

I loved the State of the Union speech; it was the best I’ve heard to date,

I’m one of the homeowners Obama is helping obtain a historically low interest rate.

While detailing what Obama called a “blueprint for an economy built to last”,

He presented himself to voters as a champion for the middle-class.

Obama challenged Congress to help him close the disparity between the rich & the 99%,

“Class warfare” is the populist chords the Republicans lodged against the President.

The GDP that is the value of all goods & services generated in the U.S.,

Has expanded in the fourth quarter 2.8% a post-recession levels’ best.

The nation has recorded 22 straight months of job increases 3 million remember,

These numbers include the addition of 200,000 jobs in December.

“I believe in you guys,” Obama said. “You guys have had my back through some very tough times.”

“Let’s Stay Together,” I….m, so in love with you … is ringing in my head or maybe it chimes.

Fear, Distrust and Envy

Says Willie Lynch in his 1712 speech, will control the slaves for over 300 years,

The foolproof message to control the slaves was received with cheers.

I have outlined a number of differences among the niggers;

I take these differences & make them bigger.

Pit the old against the young, the dark skin against light skin,

The weak against the strong, fat against the thin & women against men.

He assured slave owners that distrust was stronger than trust,

“They must love, respect & trust only us”.

Willie suggested that envy is stronger than adulation, respect or admiration.

Now 300 years later, we have a chance to vote for a descendent of slavery to run this nation.

There is an attack on women’s health-care & birth control too,

One party is fighting for Willie & the rich; the Pres is fighting for you.

The Presidential candidates are the ones to fear, distrust & envy… they are fakes,

We should fear what they would do as president, distrust what they say & envy their tax breaks.

The GOP will try to distort the Pres record; they can’t win with the truth, what a shame.

Support the President on his principled leadership & don’t get caught up in the 300 year-old game.

Presidential Race

It must be difficult navigating 21st-century America as a black man.

It can be troubling walking through a gated community with skittles in your hand.

We all can’t be racist, look whose president,

Although I’m a victim of discriminatory lending; making it hard to pay my rent.

Does the Obama presidency promote racial disparities and division, or black fringe?

Barack admitted his grandmother said things about race that made him cringe.

The Pres lived multiculturalism and suggests his son would look like Trayvon,

Candidates Mitt, Rick & Newt the triumvirates, felt this was a time for them to bond.

They agreed the shooting wasn’t a reflection of Florida’s Hold Your Ground law,

Then they called Obama’s comments disgraceful, appalling, a divisive flaw.

Last month was a good reflection of the complexities of race in the U.S.,

A young black man wearing a hoodie can be considered a threat at best.

Jan Brewer met the Pres on a tarmac pointing her finger in his face, felt threatened.

The GOP will kill his legacy along with Obama-care is what they’re betting.

Folks are angry, they want their country back … back to what/where?

Back to spending 800 billion fighting other countries or moving forward with healthcare?

We should be mad about war lies, job loss, weak economy, torture & tax breaks for the rich,

Obama is changing America for the better & deserves another term before we switch.

One more thing to note …,

Make sure all of your family & friends are registered to vote!

Register on time don’t be tardy,

Obama is in a fight with history, the GOP, the cape crusaders known as the Supreme Court Tea Party.
